A Cross-Cultural Celebration of Resilience, Identity, and Aesthetic Innovation
La Vie en Rose brings together two singular voices in contemporary art: Jomad, a French-Caribbean painter of Ivorian and Martiniquais heritage, and Francklin Mbungu, a visionary Congolese collage artist. While their practices differ in form and geography, both artists explore the transformative power of beauty, cultural heritage, and inner strength.
Jomad’s work is marked by her unique blend of architectural discipline and poetic introspection. Her recent Flowers series presents human figures engulfed in vibrant, oversized blossoms—symbols of peace, protection, and emotional depth. Her process, which she calls “experimental repetition,” uses formal structure to unlock deeply personal narratives, reflecting on the role of memory and imagination in shaping identity.
Francklin Mbungu, based in Kinshasa, elevates traditional collage to a sculptural form. Drawing from the rich visual culture of the DRC and inspired by the spirit of the Sapeurs, his compositions celebrate Congolese life through paper, thread, and movement. His works are vibrant tapestries of modern African identity—fusing myth, street culture, and social commentary.
Together, the two artists create a compelling dialogue that resonates across continents. La Vie en Rose is not simply a celebration of optimism—it is a deliberate act of reframing reality through color, form, and narrative. This exhibition underscores the emotional and cultural relevance of both artists, positioning them as rising voices in the international contemporary art landscape.
Jomad and Francklin Mbungu are both gaining recognition among collectors and institutions alike. Their works are not only visually striking—they carry rich stories and symbolic depth, making them strong additions to collections seeking narrative-driven, cross-cultural contemporary art.
