In Warming Up, Opeyemi Matthew Olukotun portrays a man in a broad hat with a cigarette, using rough texture, muted tones and orange accents to create a charged atmosphere. This original acrylic painting on canvas stages the face as a place of endurance and lived experience rather than simple representation. The work will appeal to collectors drawn to portraits where character, ambiguity and painterly surface remain inseparable.
