In A flower as a gesture IX, Oliver Okolo brings together stillness, intimacy and floral symbolism. The sitter’s posture is calm and self-contained, while the flowers introduce a fragile, living presence into the composition. This contrast gives the work its emotional charge: the human figure appears fixed in the image, yet the flowers evoke growth, decline and the passage of time. Part of the A Flower as a Gesture series, the painting transforms the flower into a poetic sign of vulnerability, memory and endurance within contemporary portraiture.
