Life and Death is built around a powerful visual contrast: the fresh green of one leaf, the burnt orange of another, and the deep red field that holds the figure in silence. Michael Ebuka uses the body as a site of tension between vitality and fragility. The sitter’s face is partially hidden, creating an atmosphere of contemplation rather than direct confrontation. The dried leaf does not simply suggest decay; placed beside the living green, it becomes part of a cycle. The photograph speaks through colour, texture and posture, turning nature into a language of transformation.

This contemporary photographic work will appeal to collectors interested in African contemporary portraiture where nature, colour and symbolism reflect on fragility, renewal and human presence.
