Ebenezer Samuel Akinola was born on 1 December 1968 in Ibadan, Nigeria. He graduated in 1989 from the University of Benin with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Painting. Working primarily in oil on canvas, Akinola is known for figurative paintings and portrait compositions that examine Black identity, beauty, youth culture, spirituality and contemporary African presence.
