In Dreams in Red, Ebenezer Akinola places the figure against a richly textured red background, heightening the emotional intensity of her gaze. The Black face is treated not as shadow, but as presence: deep, luminous and psychologically charged. The work reflects Akinola’s exploration of blackness as power, dignity and beauty, offering a concentrated example of contemporary African portraiture with symbolic force.
